Joan Bess dreamed up a printing plate that's always ready — non-perishable, non-toxic, the same soft surface as gelatin. Lou Ann Gleason, with 20+ years of product development, made it real. Fifteen years later, the studio they built brings the joy of gel printing to artists around the world.
What is Gelli Arts® Studio?
It's the online home for gel printing — seasonal events and classes from the inventors of the Gelli® plate and the educators they trust most. The studio is where you come to learn, get inspired, and connect with other printmakers.
What is gel printing?
Printmaking with a soft gel plate — you roll paint on, add texture or stencils, lay paper down, and pull a one-of-a-kind print. No press, no studio, no experience required.
Do I need any experience?
None at all. Our events start at the very beginning and build gently — beginners are exactly who we design for. Experienced printers find plenty of fresh ideas too.
How do the events work?
Classes are pre-recorded and released across the event, so you watch on your own schedule — and with lifetime access, there's no falling behind.
What supplies do I need?
A Gelli® plate, a brayer, acrylic paints, and paper will carry you through most classes. Full supply lists come with every event.
